The Bespoke Service is an extension to the Made to Measure service, offering upmarket luxury features. Framed Doors Inset frame doors are still the hallmark of the quality, craftsman built kitchen. They are so called because the door is ‘inset’ into a separate frame which is attached to the cabinet. The inset frame (or face frame) masks (and protects) the forward facing edges of the cabinet. Many ready made and component kitchens have inset frames these days, although they typically use the same concealed hinges as lay-on doors. To be correct in the traditional sense, an inset frame door should be attached to the frame (not the cabinet) with butt hinges. A surcharge is made for inset frames because they add considerably to the complexity of the information and drawings to be passed to the door maker (if done right). If your kitchen is to have inset frame doors please add £200 to the normal Made to Measure design fee. Overmantel Very often the centrepiece of the bespoke kitchen is a false chimney breast with a decorative overmantel arching over the cooking facilities (maybe an AGA or other range cooker). There are many variants of this feature. It is a real opportunity to do something special. For a simple but effective overmantel like the ones shown please add £100 to the Made to Measure design fee. For more elaborate versions we will quote a design fee dependent on the amount of drawing work. Bespoke Walk-in Corner Larder Sadly, the walk-in separate larder that was so useful to our grandmothers has largely disappeared. However, this is the next best thing. You can have shelves, racking, baskets, a space for the vacuum, the brooms, the ironing board, perhaps a small worktop. It’s a place for all the essentials that you want at a second’s notice but don’t want to see. Close the door and they’re gone. Please add £100 to the Made to Measure Design fee. Plate Rack The commercially available plate rack is often a sorry affair compared to the functional piece of furniture it used to be. Ideally, a platerack is solid timber or wirework and can accept wet plates straight from the sink to drip dry. This is energy efficiency at its low-tech best, avoiding all contact with unhygienic dishcloths. A simple plate rack will be included (if desired) in a Made to Measure design at no extra charge. For more elaborate plate racks (eg triple tiered) we will quote a design fee dependent on the amount of drawing work. Dresser Always the pride of the traditional kitchen, with so many possibilities: cupboard or potboard, dog kennel or hen coop, open or matchboarded back, open shelves or glazed displays, scrollwork, pilasters, pierced friezework, spice drawers: no two dressers need ever be the same. Create yourself a family heirloom! A simple dresser can be included in a Made to Measure kitchen design at no extra charge.
